Please keep in mind this is an early build yet (hence the term pre-alpha), so there are plenty of sound effects not in place, the music is not a final track for the area, little graphical glitches/incomplete animations abound, and everything is subject to be tweaked (or killed!) as we progress. We've been hard at work over at Heart Machine, working out all the pre-alpha bits: locking down features, the scope of the game (landmarks, dungeons, towns), lining up the important story elements (in game and for the art book), and just generally doing a lot of coding and designing, conversing and drawing, animating and sound effecting.

Almost all of that gameвЂ™s storytelling is done visually, which is something that franchises like Dark Soulsexcel at.

The idea of an animated video game adaptation free of dialog is not only fascinating but actually makes a lot of sense for Hyper Light Drifter. Preston also notes that there is still some discussion regarding how dialog heavy the show will be.

Preston also notes that he and Shankar are вЂњleaning a lot more towards something thatвЂ™s representative of the game on the style side,вЂќ which suggests that this will be an animated series that at least touches upon the visual style of the game itself. For a series, the question is: how do you sustain and keep your attention on a non-interactive run? Does it get really, really dark and serious? Does it have some levity?вЂќ вЂњHyper Light as a game was pretty atmospheric and kind of overbearing at times. вЂњThe difference between a series and a game is vast in a lot of ways,вЂќ says Hyper Light Drifter creator Alx Preston in an interview with Polygon. Adi Shankar (the showrunner of NetflixвЂ™s Castlevania and the upcoming Devil May Cry and AssassinвЂ™s Creed adaptations) is also actively developing a series based on the hit indie title, Hyper Light Drifter.
